So today, as I have promised in my earlier post, I have another new handmade photo album to share with you! This album has totally different colours from my previous one, but the making technique is exactly the same. You can find my previous photo album post here. And, you can find the instructions for making such an album in the video here, from the amazing Jen of Eve.

This time, I have choosen a paper with a sentiment for the cover page, as this album is made to be a gift! Also, I have embellished it with small pearl gems instead of using a ribon.

This is the back cover page...

Here is the inner front cover page. You can see some photos already placed in the pockets, they fit perfectly!

And this is the inner back cover page, with some empty pockets showing.

Finally, this is the spine where I have used two golden eyelets for the holes, and the ribbons, holding the pocket pages, are tied into one beautful bow. The paper that covers the spine is again hand painted with acrylics, to match the colours of the covers.

I believe it is a great gift idea, a beautiful and easy to make handmade present! 

You can even give it to your parents with your photos in it, as is my case here, and then it is a double gift for them!

Photo Album 1 - purple & fuchsia

Hello & welcome to my blog!

Today I have a handmade photo album to share with you. 

The idea of a handmade photo album came to me after watching a video on youtube 

from the amazing Jen of Eve Designs for making brag book baby, which you can find here. You can even buy some from her etsy shop here!

My album is handmade, as the covers are recycled packaging boxes. cutted in proper dimensions, glued together and then covered with beautiful patterned paper and embellishing 

ribbon.

The pockets for the photos are made from A4 document folders, which were cut and binded together in 3 signatures with fuchsia ribbon. Each signature holds 6 plastics folded in half, which gives us a total of 36 photo pockets (for photos of size 10x15cm).

The paper that covers the spine is hand painted with acrylics, so as to match the covering paper colours. I punctured the spine with my crop-a-dile and used two eyelets to enhance the points where the ribbons pass through the cover. I tied the 3 ribbons from the signatures into bows.

And here is a closer view of the back cover. I love this purple-blue patterned paper and the combination with the fuchsia ribbon!

I hope you like my photo album and be inspired to make yours too! I've made this first one as a sample and for my home but I believe it is a great idea for a gift, and I'll surely make some more for my family and friends. So, there are more photo albums to come!

Art Journal Inner Cover - Wherever you go...!

Καλώς ήλθατε στο blog μου!Η νέα art journal σελίδα που έχω να σας δείξω σήμερα διαφέρει αρκετά από τις προηγούμενες, καθώς αποτελεί ουσιαστικά το εσωτερικό του εξώφυλλου ενός χειροποίητου art journal που έχω βαλθεί να κατασκευάσω! Την ιδέα για το χειροποίητο art journal την πρωτοείδα στο blog της υπέροχης Jennibellie και πραγματικά ενθουσιάστηκα, καθώς τα υλικά για την κατασκευή μπορούν να βρεθούν σε κάθε σπίτι (είναι από κουτιά δημητριακών! - οπότε κάνουμε και επαναχρησιμοποίηση υλικών), η κατασκευή είναι αρκετά εύκολη και επίσης δίνει την ελευθερία χώρου που χρειάζεται για δημιουργίες που έχουν όγκο (σε αντίθεση με τα βιβλία - journals που μετά από λίγο δεν κλείνουν!). Hello & welcome to my blog!My new art journal page that I have to show you today differs a little bit from the previous ones, as it actually is the inner part of the cover of a new handmade art journal that I'm trying to make! I first saw the idea for the handmade art journal at the blog of the amazing Jennibellie and I was thrilled, as the materials for its construction can be found in almost every house (it is from cereal boxes! - thus we reuse our materials), the construction is quite simple and (most important) it gives the space needed for pages that require some volume (in contrust to book - journals that after a little time can't stand closed!). I'll give you more details of my art journal in later spots while the construction will be completed, but you can find the original idea here and here!

Η νέα art journal σελίδα έχει αρκετά μεγάλη διάσταση (44,5 x 27,5 cm), γιατί αποτελεί ολόκληρο το εξώφυλλο (εσωτερικό εμπροσθόφυλλο, ράχη και οπισθόφυλλο) και όταν ολοκληρωθεί η κατασκευή του art journal δεν θα φαίνεται ποτέ πια ολόκληρη καθώς θα παρεμβάλλονται οι εσωτερικές σελίδες! Το τελικό art journal μου θα έχει εξωτερικά διαστάσεις 19 x 27,5 cm (όσο ένα μεσαίο κουτί δημητριακών!), αλλά μπορεί κανείς να το κάνει μικρότερο επιλέγοντας ένα μικρότερο κουτί ή κόβοντάς το! This art journal page is quite large (44,5 x 27,5 cm), as it actually is the whole journal cover (inner frontpage, spine and backpage) but when the journal will be completed, this page will never show as a whole anymore as the inner pages will be inserted! My final art journal will be approximately 19 x 27,5 cm (just as a medium size cereal box!), but one can make it smaller by choosing a smaller cereal box or by cutting it to a smaller size.

δυσκόλευε το κλείσιμο σε ένα book - journal.

Σε αυτή την φωτογραφία φαίνεται καλύτερα η τελική μορφή του εσωτερικού εξώφυλλου, καθώς διακρίνεται περισσότερο το τμήμα της ράχης.

In this photo the final form of the inner cover is shown better, as the part of the spine is distinguished.

Μολυβοθήκη με τεχνική decoupage

Γεια σας και πάλι!

Τον τελευταίο καιρό πάσχιζα να οργανώσω κάπως τα υλικά που χρησιμοποιώ για τις διάφορες κατασκευές μου και χρειαζόμουν οπωσδήποτε μολυβοθήκες. Μέσα στις συσκευασίες που κρατάω για ανακύκλωση βρήκα αυτή την πολύ βολική συσκευασία από γιαούρτι και αποφάσισα να την επαναχρησιμοποιήσω. Αφαίρεσα την ετικέτα (ήταν πολύ εύκολο σε αυτή την περίπτωση λόγω του υλικού) και σκέφτηκα να χρησιμοποιήσω την τεχνική decoupage για να την διακοσμήσω.

Επειδή το σχήμα της συσκευασίας ήταν κωνοειδές (κόλουρος κώνος για την ακρίβεια...!!!...) και με εσοχές αποφάσισα να χρησιμοποιήσω ένα μαλακό χαρτί ώστε να μπορέσω να το προσαρμόσω ευκολότερα στην επιφάνεια του δοχείου. Βρήκα λοιπόν αυτό το λεπτό χαρτί με τα ροζ πουά (!!!...και αυτό από κάποια παλιά συσκευασία δώρου!...)...

Άπλωσα με πινέλο ρευστή κόλλα κρυσταλλιζέ σε όσο πιο λεπτό στρώμα μπορούσα (φυσικά μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί και η ειδική κόλλα για decoupage),

και κόλλησα το χαρτί όσο πιο καλά γινόταν. Μόλις στέγνωσε η κόλλα, πέρασα προσεκτικά και ένα δεύτερο στρώμα κόλλας πάνω από το χαρτί και.......ιδού το αποτέλεσμα!

Δυστυχώς δεν μπόρεσα να αποφύγω εντελώς τις τσακίσεις σε κάποια σημεία, αλλά φαίνονται μόνο από πολύ κοντά...

Και επειδή, όπως είπα και στην αρχή, χρειαζόμουν μολυβοθήκες...τις έκανα δύο!!!

Μπορεί να μην είναι τέλειες αλλά είναι πολύ βολικές και χαίρομαι πολύ να επαναχρησιμοποιώ αντικείμενα που διαφορετικά θα κατέληγαν στα σκουπίδια...!
