Art Journal Page - My Angel

Welcome to my blog & happy holidays to all!
I wish you are having a really great time as a totaly new year is about to come!

Today, I have a special art journal page to share with you, "my angel"! "My angel" is the result of an exiting free course that a have taken, called "Art, Heart & Healing" which is offered by the amazing Tamara Laporte! Tam is one of the most talented and kind people I've ever met through the internet and I'm so glad that I have found her. Art, Heart & Healing is a GREAT course that really helped me to open my mind and heart to art and its healing part and, as I'm quite new to it, to develop my skils a little bit more. You can find Tamara's art here and all the information about the Art, Heart & Healing free course right here.

"My angel" expresses a healing & helpful power that reminds me of what I really need to be happy and, most importantly, to be open to receive it!

Here is a closer look on my angel's face...At last, I've managed to draw and paint a face that I really like! I know it is not perfect but I like it...!!!

The wings feathers were initially sketched with a pencil and then they were covered with modeling paste (using a size 5 rounded brush) which gave them a great texture.

The texts were written with a white Sharpie pen and for the angel's halo and the shimmering dress (which really doesn't show in the photos but is in real view) I've used a metal pearlescent acrylic paint.

I hope you like it! I'll be happy to get your comments.

Wish you all a

HAPPY AND CREATIVE NEW YEAR!!!

Ready to GO! - Photo Album 2 - Reddish and beige

Hi! Welcome to my blog!

Finally, all my crafting posts are moved from my previous blog & we are

READY TO GO!

So today, as I have promised in my earlier post, I have another new handmade photo album to share with you! This album has totally different colours from my previous one, but the making technique is exactly the same. You can find my previous photo album post here. And, you can find the instructions for making such an album in the video here, from the amazing Jen of Eve.

This time, I have choosen a paper with a sentiment for the cover page, as this album is made to be a gift! Also, I have embellished it with small pearl gems instead of using a ribon.

This is the back cover page...

Here is the inner front cover page. You can see some photos already placed in the pockets, they fit perfectly!

And this is the inner back cover page, with some empty pockets showing.

Finally, this is the spine where I have used two golden eyelets for the holes, and the ribbons, holding the pocket pages, are tied into one beautful bow. The paper that covers the spine is again hand painted with acrylics, to match the colours of the covers.

I believe it is a great gift idea, a beautiful and easy to make handmade present!
You can even give it to your parents with your photos in it, as is my case here, and then it is a double gift for them!

I hope you like it & that you will try it yourself!

Thank you for visiting, be well and be creative!

Photo Album 1 - purple & fuchsia

Hello & welcome to my blog!

Today I have a handmade photo album to share with you.
The idea of a handmade photo album came to me after watching a video on youtube
from the amazing Jen of Eve Designs for making brag book baby, which you can find here. You can even buy some from her etsy shop here!

My album is handmade, as the covers are recycled packaging boxes. cutted in proper dimensions, glued together and then covered with beautiful patterned paper and embellishing
ribbon.

The pockets for the photos are made from A4 document folders, which were cut and binded together in 3 signatures with fuchsia ribbon. Each signature holds 6 plastics folded in half, which gives us a total of 36 photo pockets (for photos of size 10x15cm).

Here is a closer view of the front inner cover...

and the back inner cover.

The paper that covers the spine is hand painted with acrylics, so as to match the covering paper colours. I punctured the spine with my crop-a-dile and used two eyelets to enhance the points where the ribbons pass through the cover. I tied the 3 ribbons from the signatures into bows.

And here is a closer view of the back cover. I love this purple-blue patterned paper and the combination with the fuchsia ribbon!

I hope you like my photo album and be inspired to make yours too! I've made this first one as a sample and for my home but I believe it is a great idea for a gift, and I'll surely make some more for my family and friends. So, there are more photo albums to come!

I would be happy to get your comments or if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.

Have a nice day and be creative!

Art Journal Page - This summer in Naxos!

Welcome to my blog!

Today I have a new art journal page to share with you, and it is about my summer vacation in...Naxos! Naxos is a gorgeous Greek island in the Aegean Sea and it belongs in the island group of Cyclades. The island has great history and amazing nature scenery, with long beaches of golden sand and blue calm waters and many beautiful places to see! It also has absolutely delicious food!

I had a really great time in Naxos this summer and I thought I could keep some of my memories in my art journal book, so...here they are!

First, I made the background of the page using a map of the citi of Naxos and a soft layer of gesso over it.  Then, I made a collage using our ship tickets, photos from our favorite beach and some photos of our favorite places and foods!

After that I used some stencils and stamps on the page, I glued and painted some wooden stars all over and I have written the quote of the page, using indian ink markers and a stencil with colored modelling paste for the name of the island! I also made a border of the page using distress stain.

Here are some closer photos:

My most favorite time of the vacations is when I'm relaxing on the beach just by staring the sea or reading a book! I wish I could do this more often....!

And my favorite beach...and food and drink! This summer I totally left my heart in Naxos!

Thank you for visiting my blog!
If you have any comments, questions on materials used for the page or if you need more details about Naxos, don't hesitate to leave me a comment! I'll be happy to answer to you.

Art Journal Page - Girl's face - Purpose of art

Welcome to my blog!
Today I have one more art journal page to show you, with something new to me (yes, this time too!), my (almost) first try to sketch and draw a girl's face! The truth is that I have tried to draw a girl's face before, but the result wasn't very satisfying for me. But, this time with the help of the quote (!), I decided to give it a shot to my art journal book and this is what I came up with!

The inks that I've used to draw the girl's face were mainly acrylics, indian ink pens, water-soluble pens and a white pigment ink pen. Although I didn't expect it, all inks were quite "forgiving" to errors and corrections, and thus after some tries I got this result.

To embellish my page I used modelling paste which is one of my favorite materials as it gives depth and texture to the page! Then, I coloured some points of the paste with acrylics (shown in this photo)...

or with gelatos, which were also used to make the border of the page.

I love this quote of Picasso, I feel that it has so many things to say to me, so I've chosen it for my page.

I hope you liked this quote and my page! Thank you for visiting my blog! I'll be happy to get your comments!

Card - Happy summer time!

Welcome to my blog!
We are in the middle of the summer and there couldn't be more inspiration than that from the sun and the sea! My new card except from totally summery is also a shaker card (my first one!).

For the colour and the wave effect on the background behind the "window" of the card, I have used distress paint and pressed and moved the sponge properly to create this result.

And here is a view of the sentiment, made using the SSS "happy" die cut and some alphabet stamps!

ummer's challenge..." στο
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog!

Tag - Finding Love

Welcome to my blog!
For one more time, something new to this blog, a tag! I find it difficult to translate the word "tag" in greek, as the meaning is usually related to something different and closer to the word label, but it's ok.

If you wonder how tags can be used, well...there are many different ways! A tag can be used as a sample for a new technique, as a small creation - note to someone, as a small memory keeper, it can be added to a card, to an art journaling page, into a scrapbook pocket, or even used as a book marker!

For the background, I created a watercolor effect using distress inks sprayed with water. Then I used stencils again with distress inks and I sealed it all (as distress inks are water soluble) using a protective spray for water colors. I then used modelling paste colored with brown acrylic paint. The same paint was used for coloring the tag's reinforcer. With light pink acrylic paint, I stamped the small letters at different sections of the tag.

Then I used three ribbons in coordinating colors and glued the sticker with the word "finding" using a marker to define its border.

Finally I've made the flower, attached it on the tag and glittered it with a light glitter. Have you noticed something created at the background just on the right side of the flower? That was the motive for the tag's theme!
That was all, I hope you like it! I'll be happy to get your comments or answer your questions if you ave. Have a great summer!

With this tag I participate in the challenge "ANYTHING GOES" of June 25th 2014 at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog!

Mini calendar, gift idea!

Welcome to my blog!
It has been a long time since my last post (unfortunately my daily program is so full that I can barely do anything else!) but today I have (again!) something new to show you, a small handmade present I made for my best friend, a mini calendar - name days and birthday list! The list is limited to our close friends but there is free space to add new info! The mini calendar is totally handmade from scrapbook paper for the cover and print paper for the inside pages, which where cut in the proper size and joined with staples but with no stapler! The procedure (except from cutting the inner pages to the proper size!) is quite simple. You can find tutorials on creating such mini's without or with stapler can be found here and here.

Inside the front cover I have formed my friend's name with sticker letters, and the month's list is designed
by the wonderful Ashley and can be downloaded for free here. In the mini calendar there are four pages dedicated to each month and the outline for the pages of each month is colored with a different distress ink. Here are some of the calendar pages.

Finally, this is the backcover page and the inner pages from the side. The different color that outline each month pages helps distinguishing the months.

I hope you liked my mini calendar gift, I'll be happy to get your comments!
Thank you for visiting my blog!

Art Journal Inner Cover - Wherever you go...!

Hello & welcome to my blog!
My new art journal page that I have to show you today differs a little bit from the previous ones, as it actually is the inner part of the cover of a new handmade art journal that I'm trying to make! I first saw the idea for the handmade art journal at the blog of the amazing Jennibellie and I was thrilled, as the materials for its construction can be found in almost every house (it is from cereal boxes! - thus we reuse our materials), the construction is quite simple and (most important) it gives the space needed for pages that require some volume (in contrust to book - journals that after a little time can't stand closed!). I'll give you more details of my art journal in later spots while the construction will be completed, but you can find the original idea here and here!

This art journal page is quite large (44,5 x 27,5 cm), as it actually is the whole journal cover (inner frontpage, spine and backpage) but when the journal will be completed, this page will never show as a whole anymore as the inner pages will be inserted! My final art journal will be approximately 19 x 27,5 cm (just as a medium size cereal box!), but one can make it smaller by choosing a smaller cereal box or by cutting it to a smaller size.

In this photo the left side is shown, which will be the inner frontpage...

and here is a closer view. The flowers already add volume to the page, which would be a problem
to a book - journal.

Here is the right part, which will be the inner backpage...

and a closer view.

In this photo the final form of the inner cover is shown better, as the part of the spine is distinguished.

I would be happy to get your comments on my new art journal page and I hope to get you in the mood of making your own handmade art journal!!!
With this art journal page I'll participate in the challenge for the HUGE GIVEAWAY of
clips-n-cuts! Thanks to the excellent application "Inlinkz Project Manager" that is created by the
owners of the blog clips-n-cuts, I can give you below the list of supplies that I used to make my
art journal page!
